NCPA needs your stories

Author: APCI Staff/Thursday, July 10, 2014/Categories: Legislative Affairs

As expected, the PBMs are fighting efforts to enhance seniors’ access to preferred cost sharing, even in medically underserved areas by opposing H.R. 4577, the Ensuring Seniors Access to Local Pharmacies Act.  NCPA is prepared for a long battle on this important piece of legislation. As such, www.ncpanet.org/pharmacychoice includes a section called pharmacy profiles of independent community pharmacies that offer unique services and cater to patients where English might be a second language. In other words, it is impractical for patients of these independents to be told to switch to a publicly-traded chain pharmacy. They have become indispensable to their communities. When Part D preferred plans exclude these pharmacies it is the patients that suffer.

These stories help illustrate to policymakers why any willing pharmacy legislation is necessary, and we need more examples like those profiled on the page.
