DEA ALERT: Fax-based scam targets pharmacies

Author: APCI Staff/Thursday, March 30, 2017/Categories: APCI News

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has received several notifications of faxed-based phishing scams. The DEA urges registered pharmacies to be on guard against a fax asking for personal identifying information (PII) or request for additional collection of fees. The DEA is continuously identifying safeguards against suspicious activity, but cybercriminals are ever evolving with identity theft scams.

Pharmacies that receive a fax asking for money or personal identifying info are asked to forward the suspicious fax to the DEA at DEA.Validation@usdoj.gov.
