The United Voice of Independent Pharmacy

Come meet the only pharmacist
in the U.S. Congress!

U.S. Rep Buddy Carter will attend
the 2015 APCI Annual Convention

APCI Member and U.S. Representative Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) will be attending the APCI Convention on Sunday, March 1. Congressman Carter wants to bring everyone up to date on things happening in Washington, including legislation that will allow pharmacists the opportunity to participate in preferred networks (HR 793), recognizing pharmacists as providers in the Social Security act (HR 592/S 314), and MAC transparency (HR 244). A little-known fact is that Rep. Carter is the first practicing pharmacist elected to Congress! There have been others, but they were retired when they were elected.

Congressman Carter also wants to update you on his efforts for re-election which comes up in 2016. If you think the PBM industry has given up on trying to stop Congressman Carter, think again. The PBM lobby spent a lot of money to help Buddy’s opponent in last year’s election and THEY will do it again. It is very important that the Congressman gets off to a fast start towards his 2016 campaign. APCI members again need to open their checkbooks to ensure that independent pharmacy continues to have a voting Member of Congress. Donations will be accepted for this purpose while Rep. Carter is with us in Birmingham. PLEASE make an effort to financially support his 2016 campaign with a donation. Remember, only personal checks are allowed for federal campaigns.
