MedImpact : NOTICE OF CHANGE IN AZ SHORT ACTING OPIOIDS DAY SUPPLY LIMIT

Effective January 1, 2018, the short-acting opioid day supply limit will change from 7 days to 5 days for the State of Arizona Employee Commercial and Arizona Medicaid programs. This applies to opioid naïve members only which is defined as no prior fills for a short-acting opioid within the past 60 days. 

* Prior authorization is required for day supply greater than 5 days 

* For 18 years and older, the initial prescription is limited to a 5-day supply 

* For under age 18, the initial and refill prescriptions are limited to a 5-day supply
