OptumRx - Recall of Clopidogrel by International Laboratories

Effective January 10, 2018

Author: Erica Lawrence/Monday, January 15, 2018/Categories: APCI Choice

On January 10, 2018, International Laboratories announced a recall of one lot of Clopidogrel 75 mg tablets because of mislabeling; the product is labeled as Clopidogrel 75 mg but may contain Clopidogrel 75 mg or Simvastatin 10 mg tablets.

Per International Laboratories, missed doses of Clopidogrel increases a patient’s risk of heart attack and stroke which can be life threatening. Unintentional consumption of Simvastatin could cause common side effects associated with its use, myopathy, fetal harm if administered to a pregnant woman, or severe allergic reactions.

OptumRx notified members who may be affected by this recall. These members were provided information to help them identify if their medication is being recalled, advised not to use the recalled product, and to return any recalled product to their pharmacy for a replacement or refund. In the future, these members may inquire about the Clopidogrel prescription(s) you dispensed.

If you have any questions, please call International Laboratories at (727) 322-7146 (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday) for more information about this recall.
