As of January 1, 2018, the 21st Century Cures Act mandates that states shall not make payment for services to anyone who provides services, orders, prescribes or refers services to those eligible for the Medicaid program unless they are screened and enrolled with the state Medicaid agency providing benefits to the member.

This means that beginning January 1, 2018, Pharmacy claims may be rejected unless the prescriber and the pharmacy are screened and enrolled in the State providing benefits to the member.
