As part of our continuous effort to promote appropriate opioid usage per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guideline, Express Scripts will begin generating two new CDUR edits at the point of sale for opioids for all clients effective Feb. 1. Both edits will present as a warning message and are intended to remind clinicians that if an opioid is required for acute pain, the lowest dose and shortest duration should be prescribed.
