MedImpact has seen an increase of prescriptions being inappropriately submitted for Dispense as Written (DAW) Code of "1" (i.e. lancets, blood glucose testing strips, alcohol swabs, generics and single source brands).

As a reminder, section 5.2 of the MedCare® Pharmacy Network Agreement between Provider and MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc. states:

Provider must submit an accurate Dispense as Written (DAW) code, in accordance with the NCPDP specifications. DAW submissions may change the calculation of the claims adjudication depending on Payer specifications. Failure to submit a correct DAW code shall be grounds for reversal of the claim(s), suspension, and/or termination of Provider’s participation. In addition, Provider will be liable for any miscalculations and/or adjustments resulting from incorrect submission of a DAW code.
