OptumRx - Recall of Sodium Chloride Irrigation by B. Braun Medical

Author: Erica Lawrence/Tuesday, February 27, 2018/Categories: APCI Choice

On February 16, 2018, B. Braun Medical announced a voluntary recall of one lot of Sodium Chloride Irrigation because of a customer complaint reporting particulate matter identified as Polyethylene, within the recalled lot.

Per B. Braun Medical, use of Irrigation Solution with particulate matter has the potential to cause a local inflammatory reaction. Particulate matter remaining in the tissue may cause the formation of a granuloma, scar tissue formation and other local tissue insult.

OptumRx notified members who may be affected by this recall. These members were provided information to help them identify if their medication is being recalled and advised not to use the recalled medicine. In the future, these members may inquire about the Sodium Chloride Irrigation prescription(s) you dispensed.
