On March 5, 2018, Sagent announced a voluntary, user-level recall of some lots of Methylprednisolone Injection because of high out of specification impurity results detected during routine quality testing of stability samples for two lots. This impurity has not yet been identified.
Per Sagent, use of Methylprednisolone Injection with impurities has the potential to decrease the effectiveness of the product. As the impurity has not yet been identified yet, other potential side effects may occur.
OptumRx notified members who may be affected by this recall. These members were provided information to help them identify if their medication is being recalled and advised to obtain a replacement for the recalled product. In the future, these members may inquire about the Methylprednisolone Injection prescription(s) you dispensed.
