RECENT PRICE REDUCTIONS:

APCI is excited to announce that our continued efforts to reduce invoice pricing and the need for the additional market adjustment rebates have been successful.   Effective on 3/30/2019 we received substantial reductions on many items.  For additional information please contact your APCI Sales Representative.

FORMULARY CHANGES:

We have received request from many of you asking how to determine when changes to the formulary items on our One Stop program will occur. There is a list available on the OneStop Generics homepage. Click on this link to go to the homepage and select the list to review under the Formulary Changes banner.

REASONS FOR CHANGES TO FORMULARY:

  • Formulation Change: A manufacturer may change product formulation, for example, in response to user preference.
  • Supply Discontinuation: A manufacturer may discontinue supplying a product.
  • Supply Issues: A manufacturer change may be initiated to insure more reliable supply and higher customer service levels
  • Price: If market prices begin to change McKesson Sourcing Team will seek other suppliers to provide better pricing to our members.

NEW PORTFOLIO COMMERCIAL PROGRAM
OFFERED BY MERCK VACCINES

APCI is pleased to announce a new commercial vaccination portfolio program from our preferred vendor Merck. Calculations for Q1 2019 will be processed soon.

Eligible APCI Member Retail Pharmacies have the opportunity to earn Rebates on GARDASIL®9 (Human Papillomavirus 9-Valent Vaccine, Recombinant), M-M-R®II (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Virus Vaccine Live), PNEUMOVAX®23 (Pneumococcal Vaccine Polyvalent), and VARIVAX® (Varicella Vaccine Live) by achieving a quarterly Aggregate Volume Threshold for the Merck Portfolio Vaccines in the designated Measurement Quarter (as defined in the program agreement).

To reach the Aggregate Volume Threshold, Eligible APCI Member Retail Pharmacy may purchase any combination of the Merck Portfolio Vaccines and is not required to purchase any specific Merck Portfolio Vaccine. The individual APCI Member Retail Pharmacies Net Dose Purchases will be aggregated and measured at the APCI headquarters level to determine if an Aggregate Volume Threshold Rebate has been earned. If a Rebate is earned, Merck will provide the APCI headquarters with the Rebate payment and APCI headquarters will provide the earned Rebate payment to each Eligible APCI Member Retail Pharmacy in accordance with the Rebate reconciliation report per the Terms and Conditions of the Program.

An APCI Member Retail Pharmacy that has a mixed Retail Pharmacy/ Long Term Care Class of Trade (COT) is eligible for the On-Invoice Discounts (OIDs), but they are not eligible to receive Rebates for the Program. Requirements for earning Rebates are set forth in Section 1 below. Only Eligible APCI Member Retail Pharmacies located in the 50 states of the United States and the District of Columbia are eligible for participation in this Portfolio Program.

Know Your Meds Alabama Patient Survey

In an effort to help better understand patient behavior, APCI is working with the Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation (AQAF) on a brief patient survey as part of the “Know Your Meds Alabama” campaign. The goals of the survey are to learn how patients manage their medications, which healthcare providers they ask for advice, and what kind of relationship they have with their local pharmacy.

We ask that you offer this survey to your patients as they come into the pharmacy or as they are waiting for their prescriptions. The survey is available for patients to complete online at www.aqaf.com/kyma or as a printed survey that you can download and print here.

APCI and AQAF will be collecting survey information through June 30, 2019. Please click here to download a letter from APCI that fully explains the survey effort.

2019-2020 Flu Season Vaccine Ordering

Even though the current flu season is ongoing, it is time to plan for the 2019-2020 flu season. APCI is working with both FFF Enterprises and Seqirus to better meet our members’ needs in 2019-2020.

APCI has an agreement with FFF Enterprises for 2019-2020 to provide our flu vaccine across all manufacturers for all APCI member pharmacies. This agreement allows APCI members to shop all manufacturers in order to get vaccine in your store as quickly as possible. Additionally, APCI has contract pricing with Seqirus which allows members to order Flucelvax, Fluad (senior vaccine) and Afluria through FFF but get contracted Seqirus pricing.

In order to get contract pricing from Seqirus, APCI committed to order of 100,000 doses of vaccine. Of that number, 75,000 doses must come from Flucelvax and Fluad (senior vaccine) and the remaining 25,000 doses can come from all three of their products. Seqirus products ordered by April 15, 2019 will be delivered on the following schedule: 50% of products will be delivered by August 30, 2019; the remaining 50% of products will be delivered by September 30, 2019.

In addition to the Seqirus vaccines, orders placed through FFF gives APCI members access to flu vaccine from Sanofi Pasteur, GSK, and AstraZeneca (Flumist). APCI recommends that member pharmacies obtain some doses from these other manufacturers in order to satisfy your needs and take care of your patients. APCI also recommends ordering the right number of doses of the senior vaccine (Fluad and Fluzone HD) for patients ages 65 and older. Last flu season, members purchased only 21% of the senior vaccine; APCI member pharmacies have an opportunity to increase that number in 2019-2020, and give senior patients the vaccine recommended for them.

Members may order flu vaccine for the 2019/2020 flu season through FFF via three methods:

  • Through the http://www.myfluvaccine.com website
  • Through FFF’s Customer Care Team at 800-843-7477
  • Through FFF’s fax at 800-418-4333 (printed order form)

Payment terms thru FFF are 0.25% 20 days, net 60 days.

Although we have contract pricing and delivery for Seqirus products, FFF’s normal delivery schedule starts as early as August and continues thru October. You are able to select a date in which you would like to receive the vaccine.

Seqirus and FFF sales representatives will be assisting APCI members with their orders this year. Member pharmacies will receive calls from Seqirus and FFF representatives to assist with the order process. APCI recommends placing vaccine orders by April 15 to get the best delivery times. With competitive vaccine pricing and with both Seqirus and FFF allocating resources to help member stores with the ordering process, member pharmacies should see significant improvements in vaccine procurement for the 2019-2020 flu season.
