We work the CPL list diligently and try to purchase a 60-day supply of CPL items if possible. We noticed that usually there are 5-6 items per month that are either out of stock at McKesson Atlanta or are allocated. Does McKesson beef up the inventory on hand for the CPL specials?

McKesson doesn’t select items or have advance notice to do this. The Contract Manager submits a list for approval, and McKesson approves same day (usually). We select high volume purchases among other criteria and try to rotate for buying ahead. Our apologies if stock runs out because of stocking up or if items are placed on allocation by manufacturer. But when that happens, please let us know to allow savings on another in stock item. We are allowed to submit changes during the month due to stock issues and since we are only allowed 125 items on the CPL, we do not want to waste an opportunity for you.

Did you know you could suggest items for the CPL at any time?

We do have restrictions, no Controls or Single Source items. Please, send your suggestions to charlotteg@apcinet.com or your APCI Sales Executive.

Can you investigate to see why McKesson is out of stock on all these items?

Tip: look to far right of drug name for link to ‘Detail’ it usually gives information to supply.

One suggestion is to alert your McKesson Rep to help resolve an immediate need. They may be able to get the drug from another DC in stock delivered via drop ship.

Effective Dates and ordering?

Effective dates for CPL usually fall between the 1-30th of the month, but if the 30th falls on a Friday or weekend then the new month will be effective the last Friday and be effective thru the 30th of next month. Example: the July 30th fell on a Friday and McKesson must update lists before the weekend so effective date began the 30th not the 1st. This also meant the June ended same day.

Merck and Pfizer Vaccine Discounts

Starting 10/1/2021, Merck has added VAQTA to the IPN Portfolio Program. Members will continue to get the on invoice discount, but now will be able to earn up to a 3% rebate for doses purchased. We now have 5 vaccines APCI members can earn a rebate on.

Also, starting 10/1/2021, members can received a 2% on invoice discount on Pfizer’s Prevnar 13 and Prevnar 20 vaccine. There are no rebates offered by Pfizer.
