As tropical storm Idalia moves toward Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order on Saturday, declaring a state of emergency for 33 counties in anticipation of impacts from the storm. Idalia is expcted to make landfall early Wednesday morning on the Gulf coast in the Big Bend area as a Category 3 hurricane.
As part of the executive order, The Office of Insurance Regulation sent a reminder that all health insurers, managed care organizations, pharmacy benefit managers and other health entities must comply with provisions that allow for early prescription refills in the event the Governor issues an Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency. This mandate remains in effect until the Governor’s Executive Order is rescinded or expires.
