Stay Vigilant: Rising Threat of Cybersecurity Attacks in Healthcare

Steps to be prepared

With the recent ransomware attacks on Change Healthcare and Ascension, the spotlight is firmly on the healthcare industry's resilience against cybersecurity threats. Hackers have recognized that big data means big paydays, making every business – regardless of size – a potential target.

As technology advances, particularly with developments like AI, cybersecurity attacks are becoming more complex and challenging to manage. It’s crucial for our pharmacies to seize this moment to evaluate the technology we have implemented and heighten our awareness of the evolving threats we face.

There are various strategies to combat malicious activity. One key approach is to ensure that all your IT systems are up to date and robust enough to defend against potential attacks. Statistically, email is one of the most vulnerable components of a business's IT infrastructure. Phishing emails, which often contain malicious links or malware attachments, pose significant risks to user accounts and computer systems. Additionally, employing strong passwords and multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides an added layer of protection.

In conclusion, we must stay alert to the cybersecurity incidents happening around us and learn from them. Educate yourself on the ways to mitigate these threats and understand their origins. For more information on cybersecurity attacks and mitigation methods, visit the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) at https://www.cisa.gov/secure-our-world.

Coming Soon: APCI GroLocal Marketing Program

APCI GroLocal program logo

New program will replace APCI Digital Pocket Marketing

The APCI Digital Pocket marketing program has been a huge success over the past three years, earning an international award for concept and execution in 2022. The hyper-local digital marketing campaign was designed to create awareness and recognition for individual APCI pharmacies in the communities they serve and to elevate their pharmacy name to top-of-mind when local consumers are in need of retail health care.

The APCI Pocket program was a proven success, with analytics surpassing national industry averages. The program helped lay a solid foundation for participating APCI member pharmacies’ ongoing marketing and awareness campaigns in their communities.

Later this year, APCI’s new GroLocal Marketing program will be replacing the Pocket program. APCI Marketing and your APCI sales rep will keep you updated on enrollment opportunities. The new APCI GroLocal marketing program will be a robust year-long campaign that will continue creating awareness for your pharmacy name in the local communities but also will produce more tangible results such as increased store traffic, more visibility in the community and more engagement with patients. Stay Tuned for more exciting information about how the APCI GroLocal marketing campaign can work for you!
