APCI began as a small buying group for a limited number of independent pharmacies in central Alabama. Since that time, the cooperative has grown to more than 1,800 members pharmacies in 26 states, and provides its members with a wide range of products and services.

Our mission is to represent the economic and professional interests of independent pharmacies by providing leadership, vision, and a collective voice for our members in the healthcare marketplace. Our goal is to level the playing field for our member pharmacies by providing innovative, targeted programs to benefit our entire membership.

Express Scripts: Louisiana Provider Fee

Effective: July 1, 2016

July 1, 2016, the Louisiana Department of Insurance issued Advisory Letter 2016-01. This letter states that the State of Louisiana’s imposed $0.10 provider fee levied under La. R.S. 46:2624 does not apply to Medicare claims, based on the preemption provisions of federal law governing Medicare. In light of this notice, pharmacies located in Louisiana, as well as those outside of Louisiana that dispense prescription medications to members residing in Louisiana, should be submitting the $0.10 state imposed provider fee on all applicable claims (including Medicaid) effective July 1, 2016, with the exception of Medicare Part D claims.This fee does notapply to Med D. Express Scripts reserves the right to recoup the $0.10 provider fee from network pharmacies if they inappropriately charged the $0.10 fee on Medicare Part D claims after July 1, 2016.

Medmpact: Provider Pharmacy Pre Notification of Medicare Part D Formularies Changes

Effective: October 1, 2016

This notification is to advise pharmacy providers of future formulary changes in the MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc. Medicare Part D Formularies. A list of drugs along with the description of the change and effective date is included in the formulary change portion of this notification which is available on the ChainDrugStore.net network (www.chaindrugstore.net). These changes will go into effect in 60 days coinciding with CMS required 60 days notice to Beneficiaries of any negative formulary changes.

CVS/Caremark: New Implementation Georgia Medicaid - Peach State Health Plan

Effective: September 1 , 2016

As previously communicated by US Script and CVS Caremark®, Peach State Health Plan began using the CVS Caremark pharmacy network on May 2, 2016, while claims processing and payment remained with US Script. This notice is to inform you that effective September 1, 2016, CVS Caremark will begin to process claims for Peach State Health Plan. All claims for Peach State Health Plan will now be reimbursed according to your CVS Caremark Network Enrollment Forms and be paid according to CVS Caremark processing rules and payment cycles, which will appear on your CVS Caremark 835 or remittance advice.

OptumRx/UnitedHealthcare - PDL Updates for UnitedHealthcare Group Retiree Medicare Members

Effective: 10/1/2016

UnitedHealthcare Group Retiree plans have made a change to our prescription drug list in which a utilization management restriction was added to a drug affecting our Medicare members, as noted in the plan table below. The change is effective October 1, 2016.

The following table lists the brand name drug that will have a utilization management restriction added:
