APCI has received notice from several of our members that MedImpact is now recouping amounts based on DAW audits for prescriptions filled via e-script. These scripts were not deemed valid at the date of fill, because a law passed many years ago requiring the physician to write in his/her own handwriting on the face of the prescription either “medically necessary”, “do not substitute” or “dispensed as written.”

Effective February 1, 2016, PEEHIP will be making the following benefit changes for members enrolled in PEEHIP’s non-Medicare (commercial) plan:

Over the past month, many pharmacies in Alabama have received DAW desk audits from MedImpact.  Their basis for these audits are centered around Alabama Code (1975) §16-25A-18, cited in Alabama Education Law.

Alabama PEEHIP began covering flu shots at the pharmacy for their non-Medicare primary members under MedImpact’s flu program effective 8/1/2015.
