Effective April 1st, 2018 Public Education Employees Health Insurance Plan of Alabama (PEEHIP) will no longer cover multi-source brand drugs on the Part D formulary when a DAW=1 is not submitted on the claim.

As a result of DUR program requirements in the Medicaid Final Rule (CMS-2390-F), which applies to Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) & CHIP programs, pharmacists must consult beneficiary records to identify drug-disease contraindications or ask about drug-allergy issues at the point-of-sale and provide patient counseling as needed.

Provider must submit all claims electronically through the claims adjudication system to receive the adjudicated response.
