Since 1984, APCI has been the ‘united voice of independent pharmacy’

APCI began as a small buying group for a limited number of independent pharmacies in central Alabama. Since that time, the cooperative has grown to more than 1,800 members pharmacies in 26 states, and provides its members with a wide range of products and services.

Our mission is to represent the economic and professional interests of independent pharmacies by providing leadership, vision, and a collective voice for our members in the healthcare marketplace. Our goal is to level the playing field for our member pharmacies by providing innovative, targeted programs to benefit our entire membership.

Express Scripts: Medical Mutual ACA On and Off Exchange Plan Members Moving to New Closed Formulary

Effective January 1st 2017

In an effort to control costs while maintaining access to effective drug therapy for members in ACA on and off exchange plans, Medical Mutual of Ohio is transitioning these members to a closed drug formulary effective January 1, 2017. The new formulary is structured to strongly encourage the use of generic and low cost brand drugs.

The most significant difference between the existing formulary and the new formulary is effective January 1, 2017, the formulary will be a closed formulary. In addition to certain drugs being excluded, coverage management programs will continue to apply (e.g. Step Therapy, Quantity Limits, Prior Authorization). If a patient is enrolled in one of these plans and is taking a drug that is NOT on the High Performance Plus formulary, please refer to the preferred alternate medication.
