Since 1984, APCI has been the ‘united voice of independent pharmacy’

APCI began as a small buying group for a limited number of independent pharmacies in central Alabama. Since that time, the cooperative has grown to more than 1,800 members pharmacies in 26 states, and provides its members with a wide range of products and services.

Our mission is to represent the economic and professional interests of independent pharmacies by providing leadership, vision, and a collective voice for our members in the healthcare marketplace. Our goal is to level the playing field for our member pharmacies by providing innovative, targeted programs to benefit our entire membership.

Aetna Better Health® of Kentucky

Dear Pharmacy Partner:

Aetna Better Health of Kentucky is engaged in a collaborative effort with the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Department of Medicaid Services to provide education in the safe and judicious use of second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) used to treat behavioral health disorders in children and adolescents.

One of our goals is to outreach to our pharmacy care partners around the state and request feedback for the issues involved with antipsychotic medications in children and adolescents. Once received, the results will be reviewed and analyzed.

CVS Caremark: Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries

WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

‘Ohana Health Plans

Easy Choice Health Plan

RXBIN: 004336

RXPCN: MEDDADV

RXGRP: 788257

WellCare is an existing client with CVS Caremark®. As a reminder, CMS guidelines prohibit Medicare-contracted Providers from collecting cost-share for Medicare-covered services from Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMBs), including some WellCare members.

QMBs have no legal obligation to make further payment to a Provider for Part B-covered medications/supplies. Balances should be billed to Medicaid as the secondary payer. Per CMS guidelines, if a full or partial balance remains after billing Medicaid, or if the Provider is unable to bill Medicaid, they are still required to dispense the medication/supply without balance billing the beneficiary. Providers who inappropriately bill QMB patients may be subject to sanctions as established in Section 1902(n)(3)(C) of the Social Security Act.
