Prime Therapeutics: Processing Update for Crestor for Covered Persons of BCBSNC

Effective: August 5, 2016

Dear Valued Provider,

Effective August 5, 2016, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina changed Crestor from Tier 1 or 2 to Tier 3 or 4 drug depending on the Covered Person’s benefits. This change is due to multiple new generic versions of Crestor (rosuvastatin calcium) being available on the market. If a Participating Pharmacy submits a claim for Crestor for a Covered Person, the claim will process at a tier 3 or 4 copayment compared to a Tier 1 or 2 copayment for rosuvastatin calcium.

For questions about coverage of Crestor or the generic products, please refer patients to the Customer Service number on the back of their Blue Cross ID card.

If you have any questions about claims processing, please call the Prime Contact Center at 800.821.4795. Sincerely,

CVS/caremark: Important Notice Regarding Texas Medicaid Zika Virus Processing

Effective: August 9, 2016

Notice to Pharmacies

On June 1, 2016 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued an informational bulletin about Medicaid benefits available for the prevention, detection, and response to the Zika virus. Zika can cause severe birth defects in unborn children whose mothers are infected while pregnant. Because there is not a vaccine to prevent the disease or medicine to treat it, it is important for women to use repellent to protect themselves and unborn babies.

Starting August 9, 2016, Texas will cover select mosquito repellents under the Medicaid Fee For Service (FFS) and managed care organizations (MCO), Children's Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) and Healthy Texas Women programs. Neither the Kidney Health Care (KHC) nor Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) Services programs will cover these products. The following information describes the benefit details, including eligibility, benefit specifics, and claims processing and information about Zika virus.
