Since 1984, APCI has been the ‘united voice of independent pharmacy’

APCI began as a small buying group for a limited number of independent pharmacies in central Alabama. Since that time, the cooperative has grown to more than 1,800 members pharmacies in 26 states, and provides its members with a wide range of products and services.

Our mission is to represent the economic and professional interests of independent pharmacies by providing leadership, vision, and a collective voice for our members in the healthcare marketplace. Our goal is to level the playing field for our member pharmacies by providing innovative, targeted programs to benefit our entire membership.

Coordination of Benefits (COB)

Coordination of Benefits

As we are all aware, some patients have multiple insurance coverage options.  The pharmacy can be held liable for billing an incorrect insurance provider unknowingly as the primary insurance.  As a pharmacy, it is important that you ask all patients to provide you with all forms of insurance they are currently enrolled in.  Sometimes the onscreen adjudication messaging will inform the pharmacy if there is a secondary plan or if the plan you are trying to bill should be the secondary plan.

OptumRx: Limited Value Network Update as of 8/12/2016

8/12/2016

The following update was received from OptumRx:

Unfortunately, we've learned that we are not ready to go live by 8/12/2016 as originally expected. We are waiting for another update and ETA.

Meanwhile, pharmacies still have the option to dispense the medication and retro bill for it once networks are established.  If a pharmacy is unwilling to dispense the medication and retro bill once the network is established they can advise the patient to contact member services for a list of in-network pharmacies.

Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences.  Our teams continue to work diligently to ensure pharmacies are loaded in the system with the correct network rates as of 7/1/16.
