APCI began as a small buying group for a limited number of independent pharmacies in central Alabama. Since that time, the cooperative has grown to more than 1,800 members pharmacies in 26 states, and provides its members with a wide range of products and services.

Our mission is to represent the economic and professional interests of independent pharmacies by providing leadership, vision, and a collective voice for our members in the healthcare marketplace. Our goal is to level the playing field for our member pharmacies by providing innovative, targeted programs to benefit our entire membership.

CVS/caremark: Insect Repellant Covered for State of Texas Medicaid Members

Effective: August 9, 2016

Aetna Better Health, CHRISTUS Health Plan, Molina Healthcare Starting August 9, 2016, Texas will cover select mosquito repellents under the Medicaid Fee For Service (FFS) and managed care organizations (MCO), Children's Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) and Healthy Texas Women programs. IMPORTANT: See attached for Standing Order issued by the Medical Director for the Texas Health and Human Services system. Given the federal requirement that this Medicaid pharmacy benefit may only be accessed when prescribed by a health professional, this Standing Order will remove an administrative barrier to the access of this necessary product.

Medimpact: Louisiana State of Preparedness

Effective: Immediately

State of Louisiana - OGB has activated the emergency service to allow overrides for members displaced by the emergency effective 8/12/16. Please follow the procedures below. In the event of a ‘declared emergency’, MedImpact will follow the guidelines set by NCPDP in the NCPDP EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION Version 1.1 September 2008. Detailed information is included within our Payer Sheet and also defined below: EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS: In the event of a ‘declared emergency’, the following guidelines will be followed: Patient Segment is for the demographic information from where the patient has been displaced. This may/may not be where the patient is residing during the emergency.

We are working to get this updated in the adjudication system within the next 24 hours so that claims will reflect a zero dollar copay. We will let you know when the coding is complete. Express Scripts: REMINDER: Amerigroup Community Care & Empire BCBS HealthPlus Plus Formulary Updates

Effective: August 1, 2016

This is a reminder that Amerigroup Community Care has made a change to the Preferred Drug List (PDL) in the states of Georgia, New Jersey and Nevada. Likewise, Empire BlueCross BlueShield HealthPlus (Empire) in New York has made a change to its PDL. These changes became effective August 1, 2016. In the table below, medications listed in the left-hand column are no longer included as preferred drugs under the Amerigroup plans in Georgia, New Jersey and Nevada, and under the Empire plan in New York.
