Since 1984, APCI has been the ‘united voice of independent pharmacy’

APCI began as a small buying group for a limited number of independent pharmacies in central Alabama. Since that time, the cooperative has grown to more than 1,800 members pharmacies in 26 states, and provides its members with a wide range of products and services.

Our mission is to represent the economic and professional interests of independent pharmacies by providing leadership, vision, and a collective voice for our members in the healthcare marketplace. Our goal is to level the playing field for our member pharmacies by providing innovative, targeted programs to benefit our entire membership.

Caremark: Molina Healthcare of South Carolina

Effective for dates of service on or after July 1, 2015, medications for the treatment of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) will be carved-out of the Molina Healthcare of South Carolina pharmacy benefit.

Launch of generic Mestinon

Alvogen launched the generic equivalent of Mestinon (pyridostigmine bromide ER). The Alvogen item will be added to the OneStop program in the A* slot, with visibility in McKesson Connect Tuesday, June 30, 2015.  Estimated U.S. brand sales of Mestinon are approximately $35M.

Magellan: Provider Notice for Compound Changes and Criteria in Tennessee

Effective: July 1, 2015

This communiqué is being sent to prescribers and pharmacies who are TennCare’s most frequent providers of compounded prescriptions. As a result of the State of Tennessee’s Legislature adoption of budget reductions this coming fiscal year, TennCare will be managing prescription compounds by requiring prior authorization to ensure medical necessity, and by implementing a level of effort compound fee structure.
