Since 1984, APCI has been the ‘united voice of independent pharmacy’

APCI began as a small buying group for a limited number of independent pharmacies in central Alabama. Since that time, the cooperative has grown to more than 1,800 members pharmacies in 26 states, and provides its members with a wide range of products and services.

Our mission is to represent the economic and professional interests of independent pharmacies by providing leadership, vision, and a collective voice for our members in the healthcare marketplace. Our goal is to level the playing field for our member pharmacies by providing innovative, targeted programs to benefit our entire membership.

Express Scripts: Emergency Prescription Assistance Program (EPAP) In Response to Lousiana Flooding

Effective: August 19, 2016

Beginning August 19, 2016, the Federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) is implementing a new Emergency Prescription Assistance Program (EPAP) in response to the flooding in Louisiana.

Express Scripts administers this emergency prescription benefits program on behalf of HHS and will immediately begin adjudicating claims for prescription drugs, vaccines, specific medical supplies and durable medical equipment (DME) for patients impacted by the disaster.

This program differs from the state-declared emergencies that trigger Express Scripts’ refill-too-soon procedures for Medicare Part D sponsors and members. The EPAP is supported by HHS and intended ONLY for persons without insurance coverage who are impacted by a federally declared disaster and who present a valid prescription.

Navitus Health Solutions: Notice to Pharmacies – Sendero Health Plans – Mosquito Repellent Benefit

Effective: August 12, 2016

On June 1, 2016 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued an informational bulletin about Medicaid benefits available for the prevention, detection, and response to the Zika virus. Zika can cause severe birth defects in unborn children whose mothers are infected while pregnant. Because there is not a vaccine to prevent the disease or medicine to treat it, it is important for women to use repellent to protect themselves and unborn babies. Starting August 12, 2016, Sendero Health Plans will cover select mosquito repellents for its IdealCare clients. The following information describes the benefit details, including eligibility, benefit specifics and claims processing, and information about Zika virus.
