OptumRx: OptumRx National Compounding Credentialing Program (NCCP) Pharmacy Requirements

OptumRx will continue to require pharmacies meet specific credentialing requirements. Catamaran previously communicated these requirements beginning in 2014, however as you are aware, Catamaran was acquired by OptumRx in July 2015 and as a result, the new entity is now communicating the requirement will be continued with the new combined organization.

Beginning in March 2016, additional OptumRx BIN/PCNs may begin accepting only compounds with APIs or API-Like ingredients (e.g. excipients) from pharmacies that have met the credentialing program requirements set forth in the OptumRx National Compound Credentialing Program (NCCP). OptumRx has chosen United Compounding Management as a strategic partner in this effort, and therefore will require all pharmacies complete credentialing.

Due to this impending change, OptumRx is proactively communicating to network pharmacy providers that provide compounding services to allow them the opportunity to complete a credentialing review prior to the implementation of the National Compound Credentialing Program. If you have already completed NCCP with Catamaran you do not need to complete credentialing again. If you have not completed credentialing and would like to complete prior to the impending addition of NCCP to the OptumRx BIN/PCNs, please contact our credentialing vendor below.
