Since 1984, APCI has been the ‘united voice of independent pharmacy’

APCI began as a small buying group for a limited number of independent pharmacies in central Alabama. Since that time, the cooperative has grown to more than 1,800 members pharmacies in 26 states, and provides its members with a wide range of products and services.

Our mission is to represent the economic and professional interests of independent pharmacies by providing leadership, vision, and a collective voice for our members in the healthcare marketplace. Express Scripts: Kentucky requires prescribers to be enrolled with Department of Medicaid Services

Effective December 15th 2016

Kentucky state regulations require Medicaid prescribers to be enrolled with the Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services (DMS) as "Ordering, Prescribing or Referring Physicians" in order for claims to process. Effective Dec. 15, 2016, pharmacy claims for Anthem Medicaid members in Kentucky are required to be prescribed by an ordering, prescribing or referring physician enrolled with DMS.

Possible rejections

If a claim is submitted with prescriber information that is not enrolled with DMS, the pharmacy will receive reject code 71 "Prescriber ID Is Not Covered" with a secondary message of "Prescriber Not State Medicaid Authorized." These claims cannot be overridden and no fills will be allowed.

Your pharmacy is receiving this to help members whose prescriptions receive these rejects understand that a new prescription may be required. Please direct the member to call the Pharmacy Member Services phone number on their ID card.
